Robert E. Dirks

November 24, 1942 ~ May 30, 2021 (age 78)

Passed away, Sunday morning, May 30, 2021. Bob was born November 24, 1942 In Van Nuys, CA the son of Erwin and Sally (Liles) Dirks. He was a graduate of Loy Norrix High School, class of 1961. He then went into the military, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier (CVS-9). He then served in the Naval Reserve from 1964-1970. Bob was a member of Victory Life Church in Battle Creek and the American Legion Post #465. On August 14, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis (Webster) who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Timothy M. Dirks, Robert B. Dirks; grandchildren, Jordan Dirks, Tayler (Dirks) and Ryan Singleton, Nicholas (McKayla) Dirks, Courtenay (Dirks) and Jonathan Kelley, Hailey Dirks; great-grandchildren, Avarie Singleton, Bentley and Ensley Dirks; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and a great-granddaughter Paisley Rae Dirks. Friends may meet the family from 11:00am-1:00pm Tuesday, June 8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 205 East Maple, Climax, MI 49034 where funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Charles Black officiating. Interment will follow in Boughton Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to Bentley's Battle (checks to Bentley Dirks).
