Larry Woodhams

Dr. Larry Woodhams, 67, of Coldwater, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 8, 2010 at his home.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 at noon, with the family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Rev. Doug Routledge from the Crossroads Farm in Reading will officiate.

Larry was born June 14, 1943 in Kalamazoo to William and Frances (Stender) Woodhams. He married Linda K. Gorton on Dec. 7, 1968 in Kalamazoo. They were married 42 years.

Larry graduated from Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo in 1962. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1968 and his Doctorate from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1973. Dr. Woodhams began his Coldwater practice, Family Foot Health P.C, in 1974, also branching into the Hillsdale area. He was currently still practicing in both communities. Dr. Woodhams received several honors for his work and was highly regarded in his field of medicine.

Larry was a member of the Coldwater Noon Rotary and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, bike riding and playing golf. He was a talented painter and skilled woodworker. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was full of life and lived life to the full.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda, his sons Jeffrey Woodhams of Allen, Douglas (Audrey) Woodhams of Zurich, Switzerland and Robert Woodhams of Coldwater, his daughter Kara (Cody) Thornton of Aubrey, Texas, his brothers William (Mary) Woodhams and Richard (Jeanne) Woodhams, both of Mattawan, Norbert (Tanya) Woodhams of Cincinnati, Ohio and Frederick (Louise) Woodhams of Gobles, his sister Marilyn (Ralph) Reed of Gobles, his grandchildren Jason Woodhams, Abraham Woodhams, Natalie Thornton and one on the way, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
