Jack Davis

John R. “Jack” Davis - Died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday, May 4, 2002. Jack was born August 1, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the son of Lee and Ruth (Vanderberg) Davis. He attended Kalamazoo Central High School, graduating in 1961. Jack worked in the optical business for over 30 years, and most recently working with Heimstra Optical in Paw Paw. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Jack served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, serving one tour of duty. He was most often found outdoors, whether it was going to the beach, downhill skiing or playing his favorite pastime of golf. Jack was a devoted Michigan fan, and enjoyed going to the football games at the Big House with his daughter Natalie. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend and will be greatly missed by many. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael Davis; and a sister, Nancy Topp. On July 8, 1967, at St. Monica Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Louis!
e (Skalski) Davis; together they had celebrated over 34 years of marriage. Surviving along with his wife, Louise, are two children, Natalie Davis of Ann Arbor, and Brendan Davis of Gobles; four sisters and a brother, Margaret Colbeck, Judie (Tom) Dreier, Rosalie Boers, Barbara (Andrew) Mortellaro, and Richard (Sandi) Davis, all of Kalamazoo; a brother-in-law, William J. Topp of Kalamazoo; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Betzler Funeral Homes Stadium Dr. West of 131 375-2900 where a Scripture Service will be held at 8 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, Fr. Robert Creagan, Celebrant. Interment Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Food and fellowship will be shared following the burial at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Gobles. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
