Sandy passed away November 27, 2013 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born on February 20, 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Hubert and Patricia (Dawson) Boekeloo. Sandy was a musician. She was a music teacher, teaching at Portage Northern High School for many years and during the summers, taught music camp for Kalamazoo Chamber Music Workshop. Sandy also taught students private lessons for over 30 years. She performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and Twin Cities Orchestra (St. Joseph/Benton Harbor) and was the former director of Stulberg International String Competition for many years. Surviving are her daughter, Erika Hunt of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts; former husband, Howard Hunt; and many friends. Honoring Sandy's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association.
