Rick F. VanLandegent

Age 75, passed away early Thursday morning, June 20, 2019, Rick was born on July 15, 1943, in Kalamazoo, the son of Richard Edwin and Vivian Marie (Lindner) VanLandegent. Rick proudly served his country in the Michigan National Guard and was called out to serve during the Detroit riots, and the severe snow storm of 1967. Rick was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, and was a lifelong member of Hope Reformed Church. Rick is survived by his children, Brian (Melanie Willard) VanLandegent of Kalamazoo, Jodi VanLandegent of Cocoa, FL, and Alice (David) Dodge of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren; Blakeli Van Landegent, Brynn (Andrew) Buris, Nicholas VanLandegent, Matt Lauderdale, Blake Lauderdale, Harper Dodge and Noah Richard Dodge; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Buris; siblings Phyllis (Tom) Thomas of Kalamazoo, and Don (Beverly) VanLandegent of Kalamazoo, Peggy (David) Allabaugh of Athens, MI, Nancy (Ralph) Leitsinger of Kalamazoo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Rose Arbor Hospice for their care during the past several days and his friend, Warren Howard for his kindness and the care given to Rick during the past several years. The family is planning a private graveside service on Thursday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice.
