Jack Foreman

Jack Foreman of West Chester Jack Foreman, 73, died peacefully at Neighborhood Hospice on Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was the devoted husband of 50+ years to Helen Foreman, caring father to Joshua (High Falls, NY) and Caroline (Waldorf, MD), and super grandfather to Waylon (High Falls, NY). He will be missed by all whose paths he crossed. He graduated from Kalamazoo College and went on to get Master Degrees from Purdue University and George Washington University. From college he began work with the Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, and spent 20 years serving the country as a scientist. He tried his best to make the country a better place from all his research. In 1985, he left the government to work for General Electric in King of Prussia as a subcontractor to the government: working with some of the same people, and doing the same kind of work. He loved his work and was sad to retire when diagnosed with cancer in late 2013. He was under the care of many wonderful doctors in the West Chester area and his family wishes to thank each and every one of them. During the course of his life, he wore many hats. He taught Sunday school for adults when he lived in Maryland. He worked with the Boy Scouts when Josh was old enough to join. He was a troop leader for many years taking countless boys on camping adventures – including time spent at Philmont. He coached many soccer teams for both Josh and Cari even though he had never played it himself. He loved to be outdoors – gardening in the yard was a great pastime. He loved to travel and spent his junior year of college in Muenster, Germany. Many years later he was able to return to Muenster and share his experiences once again with Helen and good friends. He had an insatiable desire to keep learning and loved to read. He always had a book in his hand or something else to read nearby. In fact, he participated in a cake walk at his children’s elementary school and read a book the entire time! Family and friends always teased him about communing with his library. He would happily give you a history lesson on any period of time you were curious about. His body has been given to medical science as this was his last desire: to help others with finding a cure for cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 27th, at Westtown Meeting, 975 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19382. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Kalamazoo College (Kalamazoo, MI), Westtown School (Westtown Township, PA), or the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow (West Chester, PA
